I would like to have my name listed on the Charter document of River of Hope as someone God used to begin this new congregation. In so doing, I indicate my commitment to the mission and ministry of River of Hope, intending to participate in the life of this congregation, worshiping regularly (in-person or online), gladly hearing and sharing the Word of God, receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and supporting in other ways the work of this congregation, the Pacifica Synod, and the ELCA.
1. Would you like your name to be included on the historical document (Charter) indicating the original persons who began River of Hope?
2. In what way would you like to be connected to the life, ministry and mission of River of Hope?
A: If you want to be a voting member in this congregation only, you may be brought into voting membership through Affirmation of Faith giving you voting rights and privileges in all matters of this congregation. This assumes you were baptized in another Lutheran congregation, OR any other Christian congregation (Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, non-denominational, etc.). This may include part-time residents in the community that desire to have voting rights in only this congregation.
B: If you want to be a voting member in this congregation AND in another congregation (Lutheran or otherwise) where you reside part of the year, you may become a “seasonal” voting member. This means you participate in the life and mission of River of Hope. Such seasonal members shall have all the privileges and duties of voting members with the exception of being elected to church council or serving on a call committee. Seasonal voting members may vote in this congregation as long as they have not exercised their voting rights in another congregation within two calendar months.
C: If you are a member of another congregation and want to retain sole voting rights in that congregation, you may become an “Associate” of River of Hope. This means you participate in the life and mission of this congregation but do not have voting rights and privileges ascribed to voting members. You do always have voice welcomed in all matters of this congregation.
3. Are you planning to attend the first Constituting meeting of our congregation on Sunday, September 11th after worship. (You may attend in-person or online.)
THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OFTHE EXCITING ADVENTURE OF SHAPING A CHURCH!
